Classic Yacht Tenders by Ballentine's Boat Shop

Peapod and Shellback having rowed over to Basset's Island out of Red Brook Harbor
Ballentine's Boat Shop is expanding from building and maintaining classic wooden yachts to include the construction
of high quality, attractive and versatile tenders. These sailing dinghies can be used as transportation
to larger boats or as a fun small day boat. We have chosen 3 designs that we think live up to our criteria
of a beautiful and functional dinghy. The 11'2 Shellback, a Joel White design, is a stable dinghy that can
be effectively rowed, sailed or towed. The 13' Beach Pea Pod, designed by Doug Hylan, is an elegant lapstrake
double ender. It easily pulls up on the beach for landing parties, and with the additional length, it can
accommodate a little more crew or gear. The 9'6 Nutshell pram, also from Joel White, is related to the
Shellback but it is shorter and without a pointed bow. Like the other two dinghies, it rows, sails and tows
quite well, while offering stability in a more compact package.
We also make custom tender such as the Herreshoff dinghy, CALABAN, that we constructed for ARIEL II's tender.
Both the Shellback and Peapod (and soon the Nutshell) are kept at Ballentine's Dock all summer, if you would like to test one out give us a call and we will arrange it.
