The Doughdish is a fiberglass reproduction of the original Herreshoff 12 1/2 footer. It is constructed in foam sandwich fiberglass with teak trim. It is built to the exact hull dimensions and rig of the sloops designed by N. G. Herreshoff in 1914. As a result they are able to compete against the wooden boats in class races and regattas.
It is a comfortable and easy daysailer, and a wonderful boat for teaching someone to sail.
Doughdish No. 290, TRANQUILITY was built by Edey and Duff of Mattapoisett, MA in 1991. She has been sailed in fresh water since new. We have recently stripped all the varnish and refinished it with 6 coats of Epiphanes. Spars were also refinished, including stripping the mast and fortifying the section where the gaff lands with fiberglass (as is standard now). She is in excellent condition needing only bottom paint before launch.
The sale includes: Two sets of sails - main and jib - in serviceable condition; cockpit cover and jib cover; a motor mount but does not include a motor.
