The current owners bought Neptune in 2010 and had Ballentine’s Boat Shop refurbish her that year. In 2022 she underwent an extensive winter maintenance program including the stripping of the brightwork and the building of multiple coats of varnish. She was once again in Ballentine’s care for the spring of 2023 receiving regular care of the brightwork and her topsides including the re- bedding of deck hardware.
Her owners have moved up to a larger boat and would like to see NEPTUNE in the caring hands of her next owner.
The Doughdish is a fiberglass reproduction of the original Herreshoff 12 1/2 footer. It is constructed in foam sandwich fiberglass with teak trim. It is built to the exact hull dimensions and rig of the sloops designed by N. G. Herreshoff in 1914. As a result they are able to compete against the wooden boats in class races and regattas.
