WHIRLWIND is not your average Doughdish in the traditional sense as she has been set up for competitive racing. There are a set of Quissett blocks for the Spinnaker sheets as well as a second set for the Jib sheet. The Peak, Throat, and Jib halyards are controlled via pivot lead cam blocks. Her Quantum Sails are in like new condition. In 2022 the bottom was striped and faired and painted with VC Offshore Hard racing finish. In 2023 her topsides were Awl gripped for a beautiful finish.
She has a Triad trailer to transport her to and from various Regattas and for storage out of the water. She also has the unique addition of a swim ladder that slides out and into the transom. This can be deployed from the water should you want cool off between races or if you unexpectedly find yourself in the drink.
The Doughdish is a fiberglass with teak trim. It is built to the exact hull dimensions and rig of the sloops designed by N. G. Herreshoff in 1914. As a result they are able to compete against the wooden boats in class races and regattas.
